MOTIVATION: stay positive.
I mean, you can get gnarly with it and just be pissed all the time. Most of us have plenty of ammunition behind that train if we so choose. But if tough shit in life is already driving you down, why join that pity party? You might stop by every once in a while, that’s normal and to be expected. But it’s in those very worst of times when you need that positive, sun-is-shining, look-on-the-bright-side, there’s-gotta-be-a-silver-lining-in-there-somewhere kind of outlook more than ever. Cheesy never hurt nobody. Bitterness on the other hand…
Stay positive. Because being negative is too easy.  High-res

‘No shortcuts.’ For me, that means don’t skip any hills, and don’t take an easier route. It’s harder at first, but I can tell I’m getting stronger.

Runner’s World Challenger Matthew Palmer describing his running mantra

MOTIVATION: taking it all in stride.

Good days. Bad days. Sluggish days. Off days. Good runs. Freakin’ terrible runs. Days your muscles feel like mush. Two miles that kick your ass even when you did 10 the other day easy. Hour workouts that fly or workouts that feel like the longest most uncomfortable 60 minutes of your entire life. Fails, bonks, upsets, slumps, torture workouts, bummers and crap-tastic flops—they happen to everyone.

But it’s not about how much that sucked. Or what you didn’t do. Or couldn’t. It’s about how you go at it just as hard the next time around no matter what. Yesterday was yesterday. What are you gonna do about it TODAY? High-res
