My head gets in the way sometimes: I latch onto something (an ache, feeling tired, etc.) and can’t stop focusing on it. In those moments I have to literally force myself to think of something else - a mantra that makes me feel strong, a good song that transports me to a moment in time or that I can sing, a cute guy passing me on the path. Any one of these will usually get my mind in a better place so I can finish the run. Sometimes I play the grateful game - notice the beautiful scenery and thank the universe that I am healthy enough to get up and run today without issue. Not everyone has that luxury.
